Mini-mal surfboards are know by many names and
originally came from malibu surfboards and as they got smaller surfers
started calling them Minimals for short. Mini-malibu surfboards are a
cut-down version of the traditional
longboard and are designed to keep the ease and stability of a malibu surfboard but make them more maneuverable and responsive.
Mini
mal surfboards or funboards have a normal 3 fin setup without the
larger central fin that a longboard has. Mini-mals are perfect for
learners as well as the experienced surfer wanting something fun to
ride in fat or smaller surf.
Generally
minimal's are considered to be anyfun surfboard under 9 foot.

Advantages
Mini-mal
surfboards are perfect for learners, larger surfers or anyone looking
to turn those boring, small surf days into some fun. Like the longboard
the Mini- Malibu is easy to catch waves with but it is much lighter
than a long board. They have a wider shape and are thicker than most
surf boards,but offer good stability, easy paddling and are maneuverable
Disadvantages
There's no real disadvantage of a fun surfboard / mini mal surfboard.
If you want a lot more stability then move to a longboard and for any learner who wants to progress fast then maybe look to a larger fish surfboard.
